Guide: Savings
Savings is a planning calculator for deposits, growth, inflation, and optional retirement withdrawals. It describes the expected plan, not the actual investment result.
What to enter
Enter the plan assumptions in the edit form. The calculation uses exact dates and adds the regular deposit monthly on the day derived from the start date.
Name
Use a clear name for the savings product, investment plan, or goal.
Start date
The exact date when saving starts. It anchors every monthly contribution and all time-based calculations.
Initial deposit
A one-time amount invested on the start date. Leave it empty or zero when there is no initial contribution.
Regular deposit
The planned amount contributed every month after the start date.
Saving time (Years)
The number of years used for the main Savings calculation and chart.
Interest rate (%)
The expected annual compound growth rate used for the planned value. It is an assumption, not the measured actual return.
Real values
Enables inflation-adjusted values in Savings and in linked Profit projections.
Average inflation (%)
The expected average annual inflation used to convert future money into current purchasing power.
Pension savings
Enables retirement calculations. Configure retirement years, optional monthly withdrawal, and the safe withdrawal rate in the Pension savings block.
What the module calculates and displays
After saving, the detail view shows the total deposits, projected value, gain, chart, and any enabled real-value or pension calculations.
Deposit
Total amount of all money contributed, including the initial deposit and regular deposits.
Gain
Gain is the difference between the final value and the money contributed.
Value
Total investment value after growth over the full savings period.
Real values
Shows the projected value and gain after inflation and compares them with the purchasing power of deposits that were not invested.
Pension savings
Shows even drawdown, interest-only income, safe monthly and yearly withdrawal, and related retirement values.
Recommended workflow
Create Savings first and enter the long-term plan. When you want to compare the plan with reality, create a Profit record, link this Savings plan, and enter the actual invested deposit, fees, balance, and period date.
